So what is Deus Ex? It was the first FPS/RPG hybrid, and it continues along this tradition of combing various combat, stealth, and tech upgrades with FPS combat and open-world, sandbox environments. The theme of biological innovations and shady corporations mixed with a deep storyline and interesting, complex characters seems to be in place.

The second iteration, Invisible War, was a good attempt at a sequel to Deus Ex. However, fans were incredibly critical of it and it never gained mainstream success. However, my hopes are raised once again that Deus Ex: Human Revolution can be everything and more fans will except from a Deus Ex title. From what I can tell in the trailer, they’re gearing to appeal to the hardcore crowd. At least I hope so!

Battlefield Bad Company™ 2 brings the spectacular Battlefield gameplay to the forefront of next-gen consoles and PC, featuring best-in-class vehicular combat set across a wide range of huge sandbox maps each with a different tactical focus. All of these features combine to deliver spectacular and unpredictable action moments found nowhere else in a modern warfare experience. The game also sees the return of the “B” Company squad in a more mature and intense single player experience where the stakes are higher than ever.

So what to expect in Mass Effect 2? Hopefully the trailer will give you an idea about the storyline, but here’s some additional information:

Launch date for Battlefield Bad Company 2 is March 2, 2010.

Gameplay in Bad Company 2 resembles that of Battlefield: Bad Company and takes place in the mountainous regions along the border of Russia among other places. Bad Company 2 will include locations in snowy mountains, dense jungles and also sandy deserts within both story mode and multiplayer mode. The game allows players to play through missions using any tactic they choose. Like its predecessor, Bad Company 2 features destructible environments, however, more destruction is now possible; players can now completely destroy a building rather than just its walls. Bad Company 2 is the fourth Battlefield game to have blood in it.

I, for one, am really excited for this new Battlefield game! I hope the PC version of it is as clean and polished as the console versions no doubt will be. Anyone else planning to pick this one up in March?

Diablo 3 is officially FPS Gaming Community approved.

StarCraft II, a sequel to the award-winning Starcraft game developed in 1998, is a sci-fi Real-Time Strategy game. The game is developed by world famous Blizzard Entertainment. They have not set a release date, but it is widely assumed to be released in early 2010.

This is our first real good look into the singleplayer component of Wings of Liberty, with nearly five minutes of gameplay footage from the Terran campaign.

Some of the highlights from the video include:

• A pair Terran battleships laying waste to a horde of zerglings
• A small Terran outpost completely surrounded by lava (that flows up and down through the battlefield)
• Some huge, badass Protoss units that are the guardians of some ancient relic

It’s definitely worth checking out the video!

It’s worth the download. Checking it out in full resolution, buttery smooth 60 FPS is pretty damn sexy.

Here’s some analysis of the trailer:

• Host migration
• Throwing knives (Counts as primary grenade?)
• Multiple attachments at once
• Extended magazines
• Ammo(?) drop as the 4-kill-streak reward
• Call signs
• Riot shield (With shield melee)
• Predator missile
• Radar scrambler? (You see the UAV turn to static)
• “FMJ” (Full metal jacket? Choice of ammo?)

Further analysis:

• RPG’s seem to move much much faster.
• Shield Bashing is confirmed at :43 seconds (Sovereignty)
• UAV Jammer seems to only work when you enter a certain radius of a player. (NotSoGeneric)
• You can be in chat when in the AC130. You notice this helps because you can hear TSUEnami IW calling out all the enemy combatants. (username455)
• You can still use your weapon even though you are carrying the flag.

It’s coming together rather nicely, and I’ve been enjoying the beta a lot. I must say that dropping from the sky is a thrilling experience, as you’re able to slam on the air-brakes and guide your descent – making a precise landing or dodging anti-air flak.
